Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, ELLIS (formerly known as CALI, Inc.) was founded in 1990 by Dr. Frank Otto. From it's beginnings with only 2 employees, ELLIS has grown today to more than 100 distributorships throughout the world. The company was acquired by Pearson Digital Learning in 2006. At that time Ellis had revenues of approximately $7 million and 45 full time employees with an average salary of $60,000. The office in Utah will remain as a software development center with approximately the same number of employees. Pearson, a $7 billion education products company was lacking an english learning software suite and found an excellent product suite and development team in Ellis.
